Pithoragarh and Munsyari Travel Guide

It is another gem from the hills of Uttarakhand. It lies in the Soar valley, where Chandak, Dhwaj, Kumdar and Thal Kedar meet forming a picturesque location. Pithoragarh apart from being an amazing weekend destination near Delhi is also a frequented by photographers. Snow laden Himalayan peaks can be easily seen from here. Pithoragarh was the home of rulers of Chand dynasty.

How to reach Pithoragarh: –

Tanakpur is the nearest railway station , which is about 150 Kms from Pithoragarh.It is suggested to take a taxi from tanakpur to reach Pithoragarh .It is suggested to avoid taking a Persoanl taxi here from Delhi .

Best time to visit Pithoragarh: –

Best time to visit must be around April to July as winters and moonsoons can be very chilly and see heavy snowfall and light showers.

Places to visit: –

Ashur chulaa, Dhwaj Temple and Nakuleshwara Temple are suggested for Religious tourists. Pithoragarh has good facilities for skiing. Other must see locations are Chandak Hills, Thal Kedar, Askot Santuary and Chaukori.

Kapileshwara fair held during Shiv Ratri is very famous. This place is a must see for religious tourists as it has several other exotic temples.
